The UV-2000S manufactured by
Labsphere Inc. is a UV transmittance analyzer designed to provide rapid measurement of the spectral transmittance of sunscreen products, particularly those with a sun protection factor (SPF) of 50 or higher. The benchtop instrument measures over a wavelength range of 280 to 410 nm. A dual-beam spectrometer with diffuse illumination produces accurate measurement of highly scattering samples, and filters are not needed to prevent sample overexposure. The software converts measurement data to provide the SPF, UVA to UVB ratio, critical wavelength, Boot’s star rating and UVA-PF.
