JDSU’s 6397-L3 series fiber-coupled diode lasers provide 8 W of laser power for industrial and medical applications. With a 105-μm fiber and 0.2 numerical aperture, the lasers are available in 915-, 940- or 975-nm wavelengths. The single-emitter multimode pump design rejects the standard bar-based pumping architecture in favor of a distributed one. This enables users to avoid cascading failure modes, to predict pump assembly lifetimes, and to ease thermal management with simple air- or water-cooled arrangements.
