II-VI Infrared offers a line of novel optics, including biconic lenses/mirrors, deformable mirrors, transmissive/reflective beam integrators, focused flat-top doublets, long working distance off-axis parabolas, optical lens/mirror arrays, ring-focus off-axis parabolas, rooftop beamsplitters and vortex lenses. With our innovative designs, we have been able to eliminate multiple optical elements and tedious arrangements and to greatly increase an optic’s working distance. For example, biconic (toroidal) lenses/mirrors can be used to combine two separate optics into one. The II-VI adaptive (deformable) focusing mirror allows users to dynamically change beam characteristics by controlling the mirror radius curvature with pressure. Our vortex lens uses spiral-phase steps machined into the curved surface to control the transmitted beam’s phase. Using advanced diamond-turning techniques, we can eliminate the need to arrange individual facets on a substrate for the production of reflective integrator optics. Our state-of-the-art diamond-turning facility utilizes single-axis flycutting, two-axis turning, and fast/slow tool servos to produce prototype and high-volume products.
