LightWorks Optics Inc. has released a family of all-aluminum monometallic telescopes designed with an intrinsic athermal characteristic. This eliminates problems with mounting and supporting mirrors in a stress-free environment over a wide temperature range. The series includes a snap-together telescope with two mirrors and a medium aperture; a model with two mirrors and a large aperture; and a three-mirror anastigmatic version. The aluminum is plated with a thin layer of nickel and is suitable for single-point diamond turning and finish polishing for near-IR and visible applications.
